С помощью понижающего ШИМ-преобразователя TPS40170 в данном базовом проекте управления питанием реализуется устройство с регулируемым напряжением 5 В для питания двух USB-портов током 2,1 А на каждый из них (всего 4,2 А), выполненное в небольших габаритах. Данный проект оптимизирован под номинальное входное напряжение 12 В и поддерживает напряжение в диапазоне 8 – 60 В.

Данный базовый проект имеет характер аппаратного решения.

Возможности:

  • Входное напряжение с диапазоном 8 – 60 В (номинальное значение 12 В) и выход 5 В/ 4,2 А благодаря использованию TPS40170
  • Габариты удовлетворяют требованиям UL 2089 и ANSI/SAE J563
  • Удовлетворяет требованиям BC1.2 к выделенным портам зарядки (DCP) благодаря использованию одного TPS2511 на порт

Описание:
PMP8851 – референс-дизайн высокоинтегрированного в малом форм-факторе USB зарядного устройства, оптимизированного для применения в автомобильных приложениях. Дизайн характеризуется наличием специализированного контроллера заряда аккумулятора через USB порт с интегрированным токоограничивающим выключателем питания и 42-вольтовым понижающим DC/DC преобразователем.

The PMP9496 reference design is a conducted EMI-optimized (CISPR 25 Class 5) 10 W design for efficient automotive USB charger application utilizing the LM53603 regulator IC (2.1MHz fully-integrated synchronous buck for automotive application ) and TPS2549 USB switch(TPS2549-Q1 Automotive USB Charging Port Controller with Integrated Power Switch & Cable Compensation). The design accepts wide input voltage range of 7Vin to 25Vin and provides the outputs of 5V@2.1A. It features a small size and is an inexpensive and more efficient solution customized for automotive USB charger application. The board dimension of the PMP9496 PCB is 2800mil * 4000mil. Four layer PCB was used for the design.

This reference design includes a power management circuit which is capable of controlling a remote USB charging port in an automotive application environment. The circuit can be supplied directly from the car battery rail. It uses a small and highly efficient step down converter, the TPS62130A-Q1, to regulate the required USB bus voltage for charging with charge currents up to 2.5A. The USB charging port is controlled and protected by using a USB charging controller, the TPS2549-Q1, this charging controller is also used to monitor the charge current for adjusting the output voltage of the TPS62130A-Q1. This way the voltage drop across the cable connection to the USB port is compensated. In addition, the TPS2549-Q1 generates all required signals to indicate a USB charging port to the equipment connected to the port.

TIDA-00845 is a dual-port USB 2.0 hub with the ability to withstand a short of up to 18-V DC on both downstream ports, as well as Level 4 IEC 61000-4-2 ESD protection, overcurrent conditions, and shorts to ground. This protection is provided by an integrated protection device -the TPD3S714-Q1. With short-to-battery (STB) protection, short-circuit protection, and a fixed current-limit load switch on both downstream ports, the TUSB4020BI USB 2.0 hub is isolated and protected from overvoltage and overcurrent conditions. Downstream port 1 includes a STB test simulator for applying 18-V DC, and two TPD3S714-Q1s to protect both the hub and a peripheral for easily demonstrating USB STB protection functionality.

The TIDA-00887 is comprised of a two-port USB 2.0 hub with short-to-battery (STB) and short-circuit protection on both downstream ports provided by the TPD3S716-Q1. Both downstream ports are configured either as a custom divider mode or a dedicated charging port (DCP) provided by the TUSB4020BI-Q1 USB 2.0 hub if no upstream device is connected. When an upstream is connected, the TUSB4020 hub supports charging via CDP. The ports automatically switch between divider mode, CDP mode, and DCP mode depending on the portable devices connected, in order to provide the fastest charging rate to the connected device. This reference design is similar to the TIDA-00845, however, it removes the in-systemSTB simulator and adds functionality for 2.4-A charging and automatic charge detection.

TIDA-00987 is a reference design for Automotive Media Ports that require data transfer. This design has the capability to support USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 data through a 15W USB Type-C™ port. Customers can accelerate their media port systems by taking advantage of a complete reference design comprised of analog AEC-Q100 qualified integrated circuits (ICs) that are CISPR 25 Class 5 tested. This design creates a robust, flexible solution which allows the system to charge both USB Type-C and legacy devices all within a small 1in x 2.5in solution.

The LM74610-Q1 smart diode emulates an ideal diode rectifier and protects downstream devices in the case of reverse polarity. The TPS25810-Q1 and TPS254900-Q1 provide negotiation over the CC1/CC2 and D+/D- lines respectively to enable charging of either USB Type-C or legacy downstream devices. Small solution size based on typical media interface board dimensions of 2.5in x 1in.
